YOUTH CHALLENGES AND BARRIERS TO OPPORTUNITY
Young people possess enormous potential, creativity, energy, and ambition, yet many face limited access to education, skills, mentorship, resources, networks, and meaningful opportunities needed to translate their potential into productive lives. Many experience uncertainty about identity, purpose, education, career choices, and the future, while unemployment, underemployment, economic dependence, financial limitations, peer pressure, low confidence, fear of failure, and limited exposure to positive role models further restrict their progress. The rapidly changing world also creates new challenges. Digital transformation, artificial intelligence, emerging careers, and changing workplace expectations require competencies that many young people have limited opportunities to develop. Consequently, talent may remain undeveloped, potential unrealised, and ambition replaced by frustration and dependency.
EHF’S EMPOWERMENT RESPONSE AND TRANSFORMATION
The Youth Empowerment Programme of Educrest Humanitarian Foundation (EHF) responds by creating opportunities for young people to develop skills, confidence, leadership capacity, entrepreneurial thinking, digital competence, financial literacy, career awareness, and responsible citizenship. Through mentorship, practical skills training, workshops, conferences, career development, entrepreneurship initiatives, community engagements, and access to learning opportunities, EHF will help young people discover their strengths, develop relevant competencies, make informed decisions, build networks, and become better prepared for education, employment, entrepreneurship, and leadership. The programme will encourage young people to move from dependency to self-reliance, uncertainty to purpose, vulnerability to capacity, and limited opportunity to meaningful participation. EHF will contribute to developing a generation of confident, skilled, responsible, innovative, entrepreneurial, and socially conscious young people who can create opportunities, solve problems, support their communities, and become agents of sustainable positive change.
